1st Amendment
The 1st Amendment sdtates that the people have the freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition. They can't be forced to say anything or practice a certain religion. People also have the right to say what they want in the press, create assemblies about what we choose, and create and petiton against anything they choose.
2nd Amendment
The 2nd Amendment gives people the right to bear arms. This says that we have the right to own guns. The 2nd Amendment also says that each state has the right to form its own militia.
3rd Amendment
The 3rd Amendment states that soldiers can't be placed in homes without the permission of the owner. Solders are no longer aloud to just be placed inside of someone's home.
4th Amendment
The 4th Amendment states that we have the right to be secure and to our property. This prevents unreasonable searches and prevents the government from taking personal property. A warrent must be issued in order for the government to search our home.
5th Amendment
The 5th Amendment states that we have the right to remain silent. We cannot be forced to speak and can talk on our own terms. This amendment also prevents double jeopardies and self-incrimination. You cannot be accused of the same crime twice, this is a double jeopardy.
6th Amendment
The 6th Amendment gives 6 rights to the accused. They will always have the right to an impartial jury, a speedy trial, know what charges are against them, question a witness, a fair and public trial, and the right to an attorny.
7th Amendment
The 7th Amendment is about the rights in a civil trial. It states that a jury trial is allowed and after the jury decides, it can't be overturned.
8th Amendment
The 8th Amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishments. This amendment also prohibits excessive fines.
9th Amendment
The 9th Amendment prevents the government from claiming the peoples guarunteed rights. These rights have been given to the people and cannot be taken away. Even if a freedom is not listed in the Constitution, government cannot say that it doesn't exist.
10th Amendment
The 10th Amendment states that the power lies in the people first and the states second. We the people have the power to make the decisions. Powers not given to the government in the Constitution, will be given to the people.
